Our Story
Marks family butchers was established in Jarrow around 2007, having already been trading for 7 years in previous locations. Mark took over an empty butchers unit within the ‘in shops’ market in the viking centre before moving the business into a discount supermarket when the market was sold, and now trading on Ellison street at the top of the Viking centre for the last 13 years.
Marks family butchers offers the people of south Tyneside exceptional quality meat, affordable prices and un rivalled (old fashioned) customer service!
Mark has been a butcher for 23 years this year, he has worked within supermarkets, meat processing factory’s and managed some large high street butchers shops. He spent the majority of his butchering life working alongside dad Jim who’s been a stalwart alongside mark in jarrow, until his retirement pre covid, you can still see Jim on a Saturday while marks at the kids football! Mark now runs the business alongside wife Sarah who’s worked alongside both for the last 11 years!
